This presentation will showcase how Denver, within their Building Performance Ordinance identified Equity Priority Buildings that serve and house frontline communities with less access to resources and financing and may face more barriers adapting to a changing climate. We will cover the criteria and tools Denver used, including the development of an Equity Index and buildings stock segments (e.g., by location, ownership type, entity type, building size, etc.) to target to maximize the benefits of energy efficiency in your community. We will also cover the in-house and locally co-creation process Denver initiated with under-resourced building stakeholders across the city, including building owners, managers, tenants, and community leaders. These efforts aimed to co-design supportive technical assistance and incentive programs for equity priority buildings necessary to ensure equitable compliance with the policy.
