Familial Child Sex Trafficking (F/CST) is one of the most unidentified forms of exploitation. While tactics of nonfamilial child sex traffickers remains the predominant narrative in anti-child sex trafficking identification and response, F/CST perpetrators are motivated by entirely different frameworks based around survival, access, and, in some cases, direct predation. This presentation provides an overview of the three primary motivations of familial traffickers: financial/basic needs, substance dependency, and child sexual abuse.
