Expanding the CAC Response to Child Sex Trafficking: Missing Children…the Missing Link
Track
Multi-Disciplinary Team
Brett Schrage
Description

This workshop explores the powerful connection between missing youth cases and juvenile sex trafficking, positioning missing youth reports as the “missing link” in effective Child Advocacy Center (CAC) responses. Drawing from Omaha’s successful multidisciplinary model, Taylor Newton and Sgt. Brett Schrage will share how Project Harmony’s Missing & Anti-Trafficking Youth Services (MATYS) program partners with the Omaha Police Department to identify at-risk youth, intervene early, and support survivors. The session includes real case examples, program data showing reduced missing reports and increased victim identification, and actionable recommendations for expanding CAC responses to better serve non-system-involved youth. Attendees will gain concrete tools to strengthen prevention, intervention, and collaboration in their own communities to combat child sex trafficking.
