Conversations about sex trafficking often center on traffickers while overlooking the central force behind the abuse: those who create the demand for paid sex. Without them, exploitation would not exist. Using the Epstein case as a case study, this panel examines the role of sex buyers—often referred to as “co-conspirators” or “associates”—in fueling sexual exploitation. While much attention has focused on Jeffrey Epstein and those who facilitated his actions, far less scrutiny has been placed on those who purchased access to survivors. Featuring advocates, legal experts, policy professionals, and survivors, this discussion will challenge narratives that minimize the role of buyers.
