This session creates a brave and constructive space for honest dialogue at the often-contentious intersection of faith, identity, and trauma. It brings together faith-motivated leaders, LGBTQ+ advocates, survivor voices, and service providers to unpack how communities of faith can move beyond rejection or silence—and toward compassionate, trauma-informed responses to LGBTQ+ youth who have experienced sex trafficking. Through candid discussion, panelists will explore: •The theological and cultural tensions within faith traditions around LGBTQ+ identities. •The unique ways LGBTQ+ youth are harmed or made vulnerable by faith communities—both pre- and post-victimization. •How to engage survivors with radical empathy while honoring faith-based convictions. •Strategies for transformation, healing, and reconciliation within faith spaces This session will not attempt to resolve theological disputes. Instead, it will model and promote courageous compassion, nuanced understanding, and survivor-centered care—equipping attendees with insight and practical pathways forward, no matter their doctrine. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the specific ways LGBTQ+ youth experience rejection, marginalization, or harm from faith-based communities—and how these contribute to trafficking vulnerabilities. 2. Analyze the internal and external conflicts faced by faith-motivated leaders seeking to serve LGBTQ+ survivors without compromising core beliefs. 3.Apply trauma-informed, inclusive, and nonjudgmental care practices that support healing and empowerment for LGBTQ+ youth survivors. 4.Develop actionable strategies to increase compassion, inclusion, and protective factors for LGBTQ+ youth within their faith communities or service settings. Participants will leave with: •A clearer understanding of the trauma and systemic exclusion LGBTQ+ youth face—especially when compounded by religious rejection. •Practical guidance on supporting LGBTQ+ survivors ethically, even within conservative faith frameworks. •Courage and confidence to lead conversations within their own institutions. •Tools to strengthen protective environments and reduce trafficking risk for LGBTQ+ youth.
