Sawan Vaden, Community Against Sexual Harm (CASH)

Community Against Sexual Harm (CASH) presents findings from a comprehensive evaluation of its CSS (Comprehensive Survivor Services) program, which provides trauma-informed, participant-led support to survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Founded in 2008 in Sacramento’s Oak Park, CASH centers survivor voices through peer mentorship, case management, and strategic life planning. This session will highlight: • The implementation and evaluation of a three-phase service model—Foundation, Support, and Safety—designed to stabilize survivors, foster resilience, and promote long-term independence. • Integration of the Outcomes for Human Trafficking Survivors (OHTS) tool, a national standardized measurement framework that tracked progress across 38 metrics. • Key themes from participant interviews and a Survivor Advisory Council, illustrating the value of non-judgmental, consistent engagement, and flexible re-entry. • Program outcomes for 83 clients (2022–2023), including housing stability, income, support networks, and emotional wellbeing. The presentation will share participant-driven insights and actionable recommendations for organizations and policymakers seeking to implement sustainable, survivor-centered approaches.
