What if we could rewind the clock and intervene before a youth becomes vulnerable to trafficking? In this interactive, role-based session, participants will step into the shoes of professionals — educators, caregivers, child welfare workers, and law enforcement — as they navigate the life of a fictional but research-based youth impacted by multiple systems. From disrupted foster placements to school pushout, from online grooming to unmet mental health needs, attendees will face real-world decision points that mirror the complex scenarios youth experience every day.
At each turning point, participants will make choices that reflect system responses: Will a school overlook the signs, or will an educator intervene? Will a child welfare caseworker build trust and safety planning with the family, or miss an opportunity for connection? Will a law enforcement officer use a trauma-informed lens, or unintentionally retraumatize the youth?
Each decision shapes the youth’s trajectory—revealing how prevention can alter outcomes across systems. The session concludes with a discussion on the impact of prevention at all levels (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and how community-based, survivor-informed interventions can create meaningful change.
Come ready to engage, reflect, and reimagine prevention as a shared, actionable responsibility across systems.
