Speaker Bio
Crystal Berns, a Michigan-based survivor leader, writer, and advocate, transforms lived experience into action by protecting children and supporting survivors of trafficking and violence. Credentialed through the National Advocacy Credentialing Program, she provides crisis intervention, education, and resources via anonymous chats with victims, survivors, loved ones, service providers—and at times, even perpetrators. Legally blind from trauma endured during trafficking, she helps shape survivor-centered policies and explores how technology, storytelling, and advocacy can expand safety and justice. Crystal envisions healing spaces for survivor mothers navigating loss or separation, believing that when mothers are supported, cycles of harm can be broken.
