About BECC

The Behavior, Energy & Climate Change conference (BECC) is the premier event that brings together policymakers, utilities, and other energy service providers, researchers, organizations, and businesses focused on energy and behavior to advance knowledge and actionable climate solutions. BECC is co-convened by UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

2023 Theme: “Driving Transformation”
As we get closer to 2030, we feel the need for speed and disruption: the urgent rethinking of current strategies to address climate change. In the US this year, the influx of funds from the Inflation Reduction Act provides a unique opportunity to apply behavioral insights to rapidly expand decarbonization in homes and in transportation. The focus of this year’s BECC conference is on driving transformation—new ideas, new policies, new methods of changing behavior towards mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2007, the BECC community has applied behavioral research and practice to foster individual and organizational change. We are back in person in Sacramento, CA, excited to discuss innovative behavioral solutions that ensure equity and inclusivity.

Countdown To BECC 2023!
