BECC is accepting proposals for a limited number of Pre-Conference Workshops to be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento in Sacramento, CA. We accept workshops on a wide range of topics but give priority to those that reflect this year's theme, "Driving Transformation" - new ideas, new policies, new methods of changing behavior towards mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

  1. There is no cost to submit a workshop proposal, but if your workshop is selected, a separate agreement and $3,000 fee will apply.
  2. All workshop presenters are required to register for the conference at a discounted rate.
  3. Travel, hotel accommodations, and expenses are the responsibility of the workshop presenter and are not included in the workshop fee.
  4. Workshops take place on Sunday, November 12, 2023, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (up to 4 hours). They can be less than four hours but must fit within this time frame.
  5. Workshop content should be focused on helping participants learn a specific skill.
  6. Workshops are included in the main conference agenda and promoted along with the other conference sessions
  7. Workshops are open to everyone, whether or not they are attending the BECC Conference. There is no additional fee for attendees to participate, beyond their conference registration. Because workshops are an optional activity for conference attendees, BECC cannot make any guarantees related to attendance.
  8. Attendance is limited to 125 guests per workshop.
  9. Workshop presenters are responsible for providing their own materials, handouts, etc. and shipping any such materials to the conference hotel.
  10. The deadline to submit a workshop proposal is June 30, 2023.

BECC invites you to share your work and learn from others. How can we pivot from business-as-usual to strategic changes in behavior that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions? How do we manage the urgent shift in both individual and organizational behavioral change? How do these deliberate disruptions affect how we evaluate behavior-change programs? How can we drive positive transitions in fair and equitable ways? These questions will guide our in-person conference in Sacramento, California this year.

BECC participants and presenters represent a variety of backgrounds and communities (research, academia, business, consultants, utilities, government, and the nonprofit sector). BECC strives to increase diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in our conference content, attendees, and speakers.

DEADLINE FOR WORKSHOP SUBMISSIONS: June 30, 2023
