Dr. Elizabeth Alston has been active within the anti-sex trafficking movement for the past 13 years in various capacities including building awareness, providing direct intervention services to victims & survivors of trafficking in residential care and in the community, and maintaining and introducing new systems for the State of Oregon on this matter. Currently, Dr. Alston serves as the Human Trafficking Intervention Coordinator for the State of Oregon Department of Human Services Office of Child Welfare, implementing required and ongoing training, providing technical support on cases, and analyzing policies and procedures related to trafficking. Alston serves on the Trafficking Intervention Advisory Committee for Oregon Department of Justice, as well as acting as a steering committee member for the National Child Welfare Anti-Trafficking Collaborative. She earned her PhD from Johnson University in 2021 focusing her area of research on the application of trauma informed principles by law enforcement and community organizations with survivors of trafficking through a systems theory approach. She enjoys winning at Scrabble, making people laugh, and time with her family.
