Myla Lampkin, Finding Kids
Sylvia Lacy-Miller, Finding Kids

This workshop is designed for those who support parents and caregivers whose children have gone missing or are at risk of or impacted by commercial sexual exploitation. Families facing these situations experience profound fear, grief, and uncertainty. This training equips supporters with trauma-informed tools grounded in empathy, education, and empowerment to help families navigate crisis, heal, and move forward with resilience. Key components include: Parent Advocacy Parent advocates with lived experience offer one-on-one peer support, practical guidance, and emotional solidarity. They help parents report their child missing, navigate complex systems, and prepare for reunification using trauma-informed approaches. Advocacy is grounded in empathy, cultural sensitivity, individualized support, and confidentiality. Parent Coaching Licensed clinicians lead individual and group coaching sessions, helping parents process emotions like guilt, anger, and helplessness. Parents develop skills in emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and communication, enhancing their ability to support their child's healing and their own well-being. Restoration Funds Access to Restoration Funds ensures financial barriers do not prevent families from receiving critical services. Funds may assist with emergency expenses such as housing, food, counseling, legal services, and other essential supports during crisis. Psychoeducational Workshops Two workshop series are offered: an 8-week foundational series on trauma, adolescent development, and family dynamics, and a specialized 6-week series focused on commercial sexual exploitation. Facilitators combine clinical expertise with survivor experience to deliver practical, empowering education. Support Groups Weekly support groups co-facilitated by a clinician and a parent advocate provide confidential spaces for caregivers to connect, share challenges, and build resilience through community support and collaborative problem-solving. Through the integration of lived experience, clinical expertise, financial support, and structured education, this workshop offers a holistic, trauma-informed approach to supporting parents during one of the most difficult experiences a family can face. It is not just a program—it is a lifeline to healing and hope.
